It has been quite a while, blog world

‘Ello world…

So, the truth is there hasn’t been any travel or adventure in my life for months, I’m guessing the last time I felt like a 22 year old, was the last post I had made here. I wont get into all the details, but in the last 5 or 6 months my life has been twisted upside down. Was it my fault? I guess people who don’t really know me or the things that have been going on would say that -yes everything was 100% my fault. I was uncomfortably obsessive about everything in my life. Appearance, food, friends and keeping my emotions hidden until I completely broke down were huge obstacles that I couldn’t overcome ,yet I was so delusional that I thought I was fine. I believe a lot of it was my fault, letting years and years of being uncomfortable in my own skin take a sever toll on my mind, body and family and friends. I think it came to a point where I knew in my mind that I was doing things all wrong, but couldn’t come forward and tell anyone I had a problem. I would say that in the beginning, probably 2 years ago, yes it was my fault. I should have shut out all the negatives I had about myself and changed the way I was thinking, but I had no idea at that point how out of control my life would get.

I have had many more lows than highs the last few months, but I am starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. For some reason, I thought I was alone, in my own little darkness even knowing there are so many people out there are and at some point have gone through a similar situation. I understand, that I am not alone, and neither are you.

I have been an avid reader of blogs for the past year. I don’t really comment much on other blogs, but I read them everyday. I started Truth, Travel and Adventure to get my thoughts out and hopefully someday connect with people.

If you read my post and have felt the way I have or you know someone who is or has gone through something similar, please go to Operation Beautiful. Caitlin created this “sticky note”  movement, for women of all ages. Check out Operation Beautiful and help with this positive project.

I promise, happier news to come soon!

It is good to be back.

Mind, Body, Breath

“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” -The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho

I’m starting off with a quote from the Alchemist. This is a book I read in 8th grade, and it really stuck with me as being one of my favorite reads. For this book to touch me so much at an early age, means a lot to me. I have never really been a fan of reading, I am really picky when it comes to books and have found only a few that I have enjoyed fully. What I am really trying to get at is that this book really spoke to me, and I feel like I need to read it again because at 21 I would understand and appreciate it more. It offers a ton of insight on life, and I could really benefit from it.

The quote however brings me to a similar discussion.“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” I believe this entirely. Have you ever heard of “The Secret”? A few months ago I was hanging out with a few friends. My friend brought this dvd over for us to watch, claiming it really changed the way she thought, and engaged in her daily life. We watched “The Secret“, and honestly it makes you think in such a different manner. I feel as though I have used the secret in many situations, and never realized it. Check out the link and even the dvd if you are up for it. It is kind of freaky at first, mind boggling.

Sorry for the ramblin’… Here’s what I have been up to.

My summer officially started about two weeks ago! Thank you Pitt for being so schedule friendly, it really is great getting out a few weeks earlier than then other colleges around. I have been trying to plan out my summer, but it’s not lookin’ so summer-ish. I just joined a new gym…and I am loving it! I have been enjoying some Ah-mazing power yoga classes, some sculpting and kickboxing classes as well. I hate working out alone, but love the classes so I’m diggin’ this gym!

Today I started one of my internships which is at a local radio station. I’ll be working in the promotions department. I am SO pumped for this experience. Today all 14 interns got together and scheduled our office hours/events, met the peeps in charge, went over the to-do’s and not-to-do’s and just got to know each other. Everyone is so nice and I can’t wait for my official start on Wednesday. I’m excited for this internship because I want to work in the music industry, doing PR work and some day hopefully having my own record label (yes high hopes, but I’ve got “The Secret”, right 😉

My second internship starts Friday. Yes, I will be juggling two internships and a social life this summer, we will see how this pans out. I am also really excited to start this because it’s on the quite the opposite. I will be interning at an Engineering Company in the Magazine department. I’ll be working this internship on Monday, Tuesday and Friday and then Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday will be spent at the radio station.

Hope you are all having an amazing start to summer!

The past few days

Sorry I have neglected to post since last week. I have just been enjoying the first few days of a stressless start to summer, before everything gets crazy!

Let me rewind to some highlight-able events that took place over the past few days:

My last final was over on Tuesday! Hellooooo Senior year of college! eekk. It’s kind of scary thinking about graduating, but I really can’t wait to get out and start my career and make money.

I traveled to Fredonia, NY this weekend to visit some friends. I thought the ride was going to take forever, but it was an easy three hours, and nothing my ipod couldn’t handle. I’ve never heard of this town until I decided to visit, but let me tell you it is BEAUTIFUL! It’s a really small town but it seems to be pretty secluded and in the “country” which I love. The weather was great, and the company was even better. I’m really glad I was able to visit and I also met a ton of new people. Ummm BRAND NEW! ahhh It was Fredfest weekend. Yes, party central for the Fredonia college kids that takes place every year. So fun and Brand New was the main act this year. They put on a great show, and I was so pumped to see them, as I have been following them for a while.

If you are from my neck of the woods, you too have most likely been enjoying the kick-ass rays we have been having! I swear the weather changes my mood and I do a complete 360 when the sun is shining! Yesterday I worked out with some of my good friends at the local track and wooo did it feel amazing! I love waking up stretching out and feeling a little burn. It really makes the day a whole lot more enjoyable.

Speaking of working out and health… three of my closest friends are starting the summer off with some much needed goals to accomplish. I have never really tired to set goals for myself over the summer, I’ve used my summers as a time to let loose and just forget about everything. This summer I wanted to do something different, and what better to start than with the help of some of your girl! I will be creating my list of goals for the summer and post them here.

My little wolf pack and I will also be embarking on some adventures this summer, a sneak peak of what will hopefully take place..

Kayaking, hiking, road trips, art galleries, museums, family dinner nights (three of us are newly vegetarian and we hate eating out so it would be helpful), and more to come.

How am I going to do all of the above? No idea. I have so many amazing plans for the summer, ideas I should say but time is a huge factor. I have an internship this summer with a country radio station, I am ecstatic!! 🙂 I am working at a local restaurant as a hostess and I just had a phone interview yesterday afternoon for another internship. Hopefully I will be working both internships, both places are flexible and I would love to experience both because they are complete opposites in the Communications field. So wish me luck. 🙂

I also have a trip planned to visit my flat-mate from London in good old Mississippi this summer! I’ll be there for a week, enjoying some hot hot weather, lovely southern accents and viewing some southern boys!

So I’m pretty sure this is going to be a full summer for me, I’m loving that because I hate trying to figure out what to do with myself when things aren’t planned out. I do better with schedules, lists and organization.

Sorry this is all over the place, just a lot of stuff to go through from last week.

On another note, Mothers day is Sunday and I have to think of an amazing gift because my mom has really been my rock and best friend. She loves Hummingbirds, but I believe she could use a stress free day, maybe a spa or massage gift certificate?

I’m off to spinning class! I think it’ll be a good kick in the butt this morning!

What are your summer plans, and how will you manage your time with friends, family, work, etc?

“I’m only happy when it rains….”

…Well not quite. I will start off by saying this is my first real post! Woo. So here goes….

I am completely stoked about sleeping in today, woke up at 6:30. I know you are probably thinking that sounds early, but for the past few months my sleeping cycle has had me waking up at 3, 4, or 5am EVERY day! I’ve been sleep deprived, my mood has been edgy and I never have energy. I guess I can thank the graces and makers of Unicom for giving me back a few much needed hours of sleep.

Off to other things…

A preview of this week:

Today I am catching up with my  London Loves (friends, now considered family that I met while in London last semester) this afternoon for a much needed get together. They always brighten my dreary days. I’m really sad we can’t all get together more often. Since the semester in nearing an end everyone will be leaving for home, so we wanted to have a meet-up before all of our crazy summer schedules start to consume our lives.

Tuesday I have my LAST final of Junior year! It is shocking to think that I will be graduating at this time next year, hello priorities.

The rest of my week is pretty chilled out. Thursday I am leaving for New york, no not NYC. I will be catching up with some more of my London Loves and getting crazy wild at a festival where  Brand New is playing! So excited to let loose and have fun.

I wont be posting during this weekend, but make sure you check back Sunday night to see how my weekend turned out, I’m sure I will have some stories to tell.

On another note, I haven’t yet decided if I should post pictures of friends/family on here. I really haven’t told anyone that I started a blog.

Thoughts on this: Bloggies, do you post pics of friends/family? If so, have you asked their permission to do so?

Not quite there yet…

So this is a bit of a work in progress for me. Hopefully in the next few days I can get everything figured out and start blogging for good.

No longer a bloggin’ virgin

Hey!

So it has been taking me forever to figure this out… talk about computer illiterate. : / Hopefully I will get the hang of things pretty quickly, since I am still trying to finish off my pages. But I just wanted to say my first hello! I am really excited to get into the blogging mix!
